Nepal

This will be my last post until after Christmas, because on Tuesday, as you may have gathered from my previous posts, I’m off to Nepal for 28 days. I’ll be doing a 12 day trek and helping out in a local school with some other people from my school. I come back Christmas Eve. It should a great, from a non-photographical and a photographical sense.

Thank you to anyone who’s come on my and left a comment or just helped to accumulate hits; it’s a comforting feeling know that there are people out theire who are interested in what you do.

Applecross Jetty Remnants

HDR attempt at Bennion Beach

Exams are over so I’m back to photography again. This is my first shot at using Photomatix software, which is used to create HDR (High Dynamic Range) images (for more information go to this link ).

Less than 6 days until my four week adventure in Nepal. I’m taking a Panasonic Lumix that I have borrowed, (the one the guy skims off the water in that ad). If anyone has any tips on how to photograph mountains, please let me know.

Black & White Boatshed

I think I’ve milked my boatshed shots for all they’re worth so I’ll have to find something new to put up soon. After my two previous boatshed photos (that may be a little oversaturated), I thought a nice contrast would be a monochrome one.

E Shed

This is a photo that my friend took and I edited for him. I really like this picture, I tried to buy the rights off him for 50 cents but he declined. So thus, I must credit him for this photo. Tom took this.

Despite taking around 400 shots over the weekend, I won’t have time to process, edit and post any of them them since it’s leading up to exam week at my school. This might be the last one for a while, I’ll see what I can do.

Another shot from Saturdays night’s little adventure down to the city, shot well after the sun had gone down from the beach at Matilda Bay. I was wary to try and convey as much of the mood captured in the initial photograph as possible so this image has been hardly edited at all.

Here’s the first shot that I’ve finished from last night. As I said previously, this is an incredibly popular place to photograph, and it’s mostly with fairly similar composition, so I’ve tried to get a bit side on and give a bit of a new perspective on a old subject.

Adventure + Bennion Beach

I’m on a photography mission! I spent the afternoon at applecross shooting Jetty’s and the river, before tonight heading to Perth’s most photographed location, the boatshed in Crawley, and Matilda Bay. There was great light down there tonight, and the clouds were looking quite dynamic, so hopefully I’ll have a bit to work with there. Unfortunately, having only just got back, I don’t have time to edit one and pop it up here so you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see how that shoot turned out. Until then, here’s another shot that I took last night at Bennion Beach.

Bennion Beach

Disaster has struck! My trip to Stirling Ranges has been, well, cancelled would be the more accurate term but I’m going to say postponed instead because I still really want to go there. So whilst I still have the camera, I decided to make the most of it and head down to the Trigg area to have a try. So here it is, not quite Stirling Ranges but a photo nonetheless.

…for one week! I took this today whilst I was fiddling around with the settings.

Sydney from Taronga Zoo

I took this on the S&E school trip last year from Taronga Zoo. I can’t wait until my Stirling Ranges trip this weekend, I have no images to work with at all.

Pelicans

I took this whilst I was waiting for the Ferry on the Boat refiller mini-jetty. It would have been nice if all 3 birds were Pelicans but I guess that scrawny thing on the end will have to suffice. I really like the majestic nature of the middle pelican.
